Each unit comes with a storage tank that holds 14 bushels of corn that is enough
to heat your home for 10 days. About 99% of the corn is burned, leaving one pound
of residue for each 100 pounds of corn burned. Unlike wood burning stoves and
furnaces, corn burners do not produce creosote, so there is no danger of a chimney
fire. The most maintenance you would have would be to fill the storage tank
and empty the ash pot once a week. Your homes thermostat electronically controls the fuel (corn) feed system to provide a constant temperature in your home or office. The furnace will remain lit as long as the storage tank has corn, it will automatically shut down if you run out of corn. The furnace has a timer that turns on every seven minutes and then cycles for two minutes, just enough to keep the flame going. If there is power outage, all you need is a small gas generator to keep the furnace running.
